Social Studies
- Research the effects of the civil rights movement of the 1960’s and 1970’s on Charleston SC.
- Have students research other African American City Councilmen or women and or Mayors who served in the state of SC. Have students research and present the significant events of their tenure.
English Language Arts
- Discuss the importance of community service with students. Have students create a community service project in their community. (class or school project)
- Write a letter to a service man or woman thanking him/her for his/her services.
- Organize a Veteran’s Day celebration (class project).
